Have A Coke And A Smile...

With Christmas just a few days away and lots of different stuff going on around here, I've decided to take a bit of a break from blogging and (hopefully) the internet in general.  Tomorrow, this room where I'm currently ensconced will be getting a new coat of paint or two and I won't be able to use the computer at all, once the fun and frolic of painting begins.  In addition to that, I've got a painting project going on out in the carriage house.  I'm painting the downstairs bathroom all by my lonesome and I will also need to figure out a new window treatment for that area.  I would like to design, paint and sew my  own curtains but that may be an optimistic dream on my part, especially given the state of my work area in the studio.  Meh.  As if that wasn't enough, I still have some furniture I want to paint and plans to make for the studio re-do (if and when the stuff that's in there gets moved back to where it belongs) and, oh I don't know what all else might pop up, if I continue to listen to that voice that lives rent free inside my head.

I hope everyone has a HAPPY, HAPPY HOLIDAY  of whatever variety you may subscribe to or believe in.  So have a Coke and a smile...see you soon!

The Evolution Of A Journal...

I've been working in the sixteen page (Teesha Moore) journal that I made awhile back.  I'm finally "getting" this journaling thing, letting go and just using glue and paint and putting down images.  I've decided that I quite like using my own digital collages and pictures of my dolls.  This may turn out to be an enjoyable experience after all:

Down Came The Rain...

The rain has been coming down steadily most of the day. This is the first all day rain we've had in a very long time.  It makes for a lazy, sleepy, slow kind of day. 

On Friday, I finally got the mess cleaned up around the computer desk.  It looks much nicer now.  I'm not doing much of anything creative, cos I don't want to undo all the good work I did.  I may do some digital collage work this afternoon.  No glue, no papers, no mess. 

I'm not really feeling the Christmas spirit right now, but the house makes it look like I'm ready:

Let Go Of The Mouse And Step Away From The Computer...

It's Friday (again) and I've accomplished almost nothing this week.  Oh, I had good intentions...I was going to clean up the computer desk and the area under the chair...

It didn't happen.  These are current pictures...as of like, five minutes ago.  

And it's FRIDAY, for pete's sake!!!!

I have no excuse...well, maybe one excuse.  PINTEREST!  I find myself sitting here browsing that website several times a day.  My own fault, of course.  I just have to push myself away from the computer desk and get up.  Leave the room.  Stop browsing blogs.  

Is there perhaps a twelve step program for this?

*sigh*  

Little Update...

This will be short and sweet...well, short anyway...

I got a new watch last night.  My beloved Philip Stein Teslar watches both have issues.  One needs a new battery and both need new watch bands.  I was shocked and appalled to find that the new bands have increased in price so much since the last time I bought one.  So, I got a Fossil watch that cost less than a new Teslar watch band:

I love it.  I think it's my Christmas present.  Nothing for me under the tree this year! 

I haven't been doing much art lately, due to STILL not having access to much stuff in the studio.  I did do a little 5 by 5 inch chunky canvas:

I'm not finished with it.  When I can get to my supplies, I want to put some bees wax (beeswax??)  on it. 

That's about it for now.  I'm trying to clean up the computer desk area where I have soooo much art stuff piled up.  I also have a storage ottoman full of all kinds of supplies. 

I ordered more Annie Sloan Chalk Paint finally.  Three new colors...French Linen, Pure White and Graphite.  They should be delivered tomorrow. 

Gotta get to the store...Cheerio.

Mission Accomplished...

After debating what to do with the sides of that buffet, I finally decided to use two old grain-type sacks to cover the holes (see previous post).  The sack with "LUNA" on it was the one I bought at the Country Living Fair at Stone Mountain in October.  Anyway, I'm pleased as punch with how it turned out.  I plan to put some type of trim around the edges of the grain sacks (well, sugar and flour sacks to be exact)  but that will have to wait until I can gain access to my hot glue gun (again, see previous post).  I haven't waxed the painted part yet, so I may still do that at some point.

The Return To Furniture Painting...

I've finally returned to furniture painting.  The Annie Sloan Chalk Paint I've purchased has really gone a long way.  I've mostly used the Old White and Old Ochre and I still have paint left in both cans.  I never did get around to ordering the three new colors I wanted...I'll get that done one of these days.  The buffet/server/sideboard thing I mentioned a few posts back got a coat of Old Ochre today.  I'm VERY happy with it so far, but I'm not finished with it yet.  It will get another coat of paint and then some sanding and probably some waxing.  I also have to figure out what to do with the three holes on each side.  I meant to fill them with wood putty, but I forgot to do it and once I started painting, I didn't want to stop and mess around with filling the holes and waiting for it to dry and sanding it.  I'm thinking about covering the sides with old book pages or something.  I have several ideas for hiding those holes, I just have to pick one and do it.  Anyway, here it is so far...I love the look of leaving the top unpainted.  Heck, it's so easy to paint with the ASCP that I didn't even have to remove the stuff I have sitting on top!!

In other news, I'm still suffering from studio withdrawal.  Everything remains a big mess out there.  I wanted to make a ruffled tree skirt for the Christmas tree, but my hot glue gun is in a cabinet that has so much furniture piled in front of it, I can't get anything out of the cabinet. 

I have quite a few other things to keep me busy, so I'll try to chillax until I can get into the studio again and start working on some plans I have for that area.
