Bunny Love, Part Two...

I managed to paint another bunny...two down, four to go.

This one is holding a wee basket that I had actually thrown in the trash out in the studio when I cleaned out that small dresser that I did the subway art on...I fished it out of the trash, apparently none the worse for the experience and attached it to the bunny's widdle paws...

The eggs are Godiva chocolates...solid dark chocolate, solid milk chocolate, another filled with almond butter and one filled with coconut...yum!

I know it's really impossible to see in these pictures, but the bunny is actually aged with crackle glaze, giving him a vintage look.  He's quite charming in person!

Bunny Love...

About a month or so back, I saw a cute rabbit on a blog.  It had been painted and decoupaged.  Natch, I wanted to do something similar, so I searched high and low and found a paper mache rabbit...I ordered it, not really realizing until the price came up that it was only available in sets of six.  Six bunnies?  Did I need SIX bunnies?  Well, no of course not.  I placed the order anyway and got them a couple of weeks ago.  I finally sat down yesterday to do something with at least one of them...I decoupaged and then sealed it with Paverpol and when it was dry, I tied a black ribbon around its throat. 

I found an old porch post that I've had since time began and I think I might attach Mr. Bunny to it...he looks kind of cute sitting up there.

I'm going to try to do something different with each of the six bunnies which should stretch my imagination to new levels...or else drive me barking mad.

 

 

Keep On Paintin'...

I keep on painting furniture.  With Annie Sloan Chalk Paint it's so easy to do.  And I love the look, of course.  I bought this old desk at an auction some time ago.  I had planned to paint it back before all the hoopla and mess in the carriage house, but it didn't get done.  Yesterday, I had a few free minutes, so I scampered out and started painting...I used French Linen, then went over it in a sort of dry brush fashion with Pure White.  I'll probably wax the top of it eventually, since it will be used as a computer desk.  Here are a couple of pictures...and no, sorry I did not "STAGE" my photos.  I didn't pick the desk up and carry it outside to be photographed in the "garden" with bowers of flowers artfully arranged and bees flitting about.  Nor did I put it in a clean, neat part of the room where an old typewriter and an old fan with a stack of old books just HAPPENED to be sitting on top.  I'm more of a down and dirty, this is the way it really is type of gal...so I apologize to those who prefer their view of the world to be through special lenses and filters and photoshopped into a gauzy, nonexistent realm. There's a band of decorative inlay around the desk that I did not paint.  I don't know if I like that or not, but I can always change it if I decide to:

The Better To See You With, My Dear...

I got my eyes examined and picked out new frames a couple of weeks ago.  Last week, I went in to get my new glasses...things did not go well.  The lady who waited on me took the glasses to adjust the fit and when she brought them back, the right lens was cracked.  I can honestly say, I never saw anything like that before.  The glasses were sent back to parts unknown to be fixed, and so far I've heard nothing back.  I may never get my new glasses after all.

These are my great-grandmother's glasses.  The quality of workmanship was better 75 years ago.

Downton Abbey...

I recently purchased the first and second season dvds of Downton Abbey and I'm hooked.  Love the characters, love the setting and the costumes and the story.  Fabulous...

The Queen Of Finished Projects...

Yes, I completed yet another project!  Am I good, or what?  Please don't say "Or what". 

Subway art projects are very popular right now, so of course I had to try it.  The piece of furniture I used is a small dresser that I originally bought back in the '80's I think.  I bought it from an unfinished furniture store because I was into stenciling and wanted to try it on a piece of furniture.  It turned out okay, and it spent the next few years sporting the flowers and vines I had stenciled on it.  I eventually got tired of that, and painted it black, with big round knobs on the drawers.   It deserved a 21st century makeover and here is the result...

I'm pretty happy with it.   I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Pure White for the letters, then Graphite.  It got a coat of clear wax and some Rugger Brown wax.  It now resides on the third floor where I plan to use it for art supply storage.

I have to go pick up my new glasses today, so that should be interesting. 

Things have been rolling along fairly smoothly.  The carriage house is still a declared disaster area, but the painting is supposed to start today, so perhaps we are finally on the right track...still a long way to go, however.

Another One Bites The Dust...

I finished another long overdue project today.  I bought the old mirror frame months ago and finally did what I had originally planned and made it into a chalkboard.  It still has to be hung on the wall...it's really heavy and I need to make sure I have it secure so it doesn't come crashing down:

 It was painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Pure White, sanded, clear wax and Rugger Brown wax applied and buffed.  The chalkboard insert was cut to fit the opening and I gave it about four coats of chalkboard paint and attached it with wood glue and used my staple gun to secure it. 

I'll take better pictures once I get it put where it belongs. 

This computer is acting very peculiar today, so I think that's it for my post.

It's All Good...

I love it when a plan comes together.  Bwwaahahahahahaha!  *evil laugh* 

Today was a good day.  Yesterday, not so much.  Had an eye doctor appointment yesterday.  I was waaaay overdue for a checkup.  I really dislike having my eyes dilated...At around 2:30 yesterday afternoon, I had the drops put in my eyes and was told it would only last about two hours...at 10:00 last night, I still couldn't focus enough to read or use the computer.  Bah.   Anyway, I picked out new frames and I hope they look okay because I couldn't see myself in the mirror. Double Bah! 

I got a lot of stuff done today.  I've been doing laundry almost all day and I'm not done yet:

But that's okay because I got some other stuff done too.  I painted the mirror frame for the chalkboard:

It needs another coat of paint before the wax.  I also got this in the mail and hopefully will get to play around with it tomorrow:

Fun.  I made this last week and will make a pillow cover out of it, also hopefully tomorrow:

The third floor studio annex is coming along very nicely and I've been working up there a bit.  Here's a picture of the Jack Rackham Jolly Roger I have hanging in the stairwell to the third floor:
